​The course will run over three sessions on: Thursday 30th January, 6th & 13th February 2025 from 7-9pm GMT.

Price includes course tuition, materials and postage.


Blackwork, due to its counted nature, is a perfect technique to move onto after cross stitch. Blackwork came to England from Spain with Catherine of Aragon in 1501. It's diaper patterns originated from intricate Moorish patterns. It was widely used during the Tudor period on clothing, particularly on cuffs and collars, where it was worked to be the same on both sides of the fabric.


This class will show you how to take the original form of Blackwork to the next level, by shading with it using the diaper patterns and threads. ​You will learn how to design an image that can be worked in the blackwork shaded technique.
