Online: Stumpwork Daisy Class

Online class:
Sat 10th December 2022 10am-4pm
£95 includes class, kit & postage
Learn how to create this charming daisy using the stumpwork technique.
Learn a few simple stumpwork stitches and techniques to create this pretty daisy. Your daisy will be unique as you will provide the fabric for the petals and leaf. This is an opportunity to use something that has a memory attached to it - for example, a child's item of clothing, a piece of embroidered linen, a scrap of wedding dress material, so as to create a 'memory flower'. (A fabric that doesn't fray easily would be best,
however a fine bondaweb can be ironed onto the back before stitching if necessary.)
Suitable for beginners.
Size of finished embroidery: 10cm x 10cm.
Also known as raised embroidery.
The Kit: will be sent out in plenty of time for the start of the course and will include calico & scrim fabric, needles & wire, comprehensive instructions & templates with a helpful diagram. Everything is kept neat and tidy in a labelled box. Bookings will close two weeks prior to the course start date to allow for domestic postage. Please advise me if you're not in the UK to allow sufficient time for international postage.
You Will Need: fabric for the petals & leaf, matching stranded cotton for the fabric (or you could go with a contrasting colour), a ring frame (ideally hands free) - if not hands free, please instead secure a loose embroidery hoop by placing heavy books on the top edge to temporarily fix it into place and allow both hands to be free, a pair of fine sharp embroidery scissors, fabric scissors, sewing thread, pins, Fray Stop Glue and water soluble/air erasable pen. A thimble, needle threader, bondaweb, magnifier and daylight lamp may also be useful.
Please download Zoom & Whatsapp.
I will be using Zoom, so please have this already downloaded to your device.
A link will be sent out to you - there is a separate link for each session.
I also find Whatsapp helpful as it enables students to share detailed images of their work, and so I will add all participants to a dedicated Whatsapp group for this short course. You will be able to leave the group at any time. Please download Whatsapp to your phone or tablet prior to the course to enable the taking and sharing of images. I will disband the Whatsapp group one week after the final session.
