It can be difficult knowing what types, how much or which items to buy for any project, particularly if you're just starting out. Haberdashery is no different. There's a plethora of different canvases, fabrics, threads, scissors, frames, needles, even dedicated chairs for embroidery, which can make knowing which are the right items for your particular needs or project very tricky. To make this process easier, I've put together a few helpful tips. These cover how to gauge the correct amount of wool for a project (though it will still make your head hurt working it out!), how to choose the right type of canvas for the job in hand and which needles to use for different counts of canvas or different techniques.
